What paint protection film is

PPF is a thin, optically clear urethane film that is laid over the paint and trimmed to each panel. Because it's a physical layer, it takes the impact from grit and gravel thrown up on fast roads — the kind of damage that leaves the front of a car peppered with chips after a few years of motorway miles.

Many modern films are self-healing: light swirls in the film's top layer settle out with warmth. The film itself is almost invisible once fitted, so the car keeps its original look.

Which panels to protect

Most people protect the areas that face the road. Full-car wraps are possible, but a front-end package covers the panels that take the vast majority of chips for a fraction of the material.

Fitting PPF as a mobile service

Film has to go onto perfectly clean paint in still, dust-free conditions, so the fitting location matters more than for any other service we offer. A garage or covered space is best. We'll talk through where the car can be worked on and confirm what's achievable when you get in touch.

Existing chips will still be visible under the film, so it's worth fitting PPF when a car is new or freshly repaired. Paint that has swirl marks is usually polished first.
